There are people who lead an institution, and there are people who give an institution its name, standards, and culture. Gjergji Çikopana undoubtedly belongs to the latter.
A graduate of Mathematics from the University of Tirana, he has built his professional journey on a strong belief: quality education is created not only through programs and results, but through people who set high standards and know how to turn them into a culture of work.
Over the years, as a teacher in various educational institutions, he managed to leave his mark wherever he worked, elevating both the work and the results to exceptional levels. However, it is particularly his 14-year tenure as head of “Raqi Qirinxhi” High School that is closely associated with his name.
Under his leadership, “Raqi Qirinxhi” became one of the strongest pillars of education in Korçë. He did not settle for simply administering a school; he built a standard.
He created and maintained a highly qualified teaching staff, encouraged students’ academic ambition, expanded partnerships and twinning programs with educational institutions abroad, and transformed the school into a space where achievements in Olympiads, competitions, and other academic accomplishments became part of its identity.
What distinguishes this journey is the fact that these results did not come by chance, but as a consequence of a work culture built on high expectations, discipline, knowledge, and trust in both teachers and students—all thanks to Prof. Gjergji’s leadership.
His contribution was not limited to education. As former Chairman of the Committee of Culture and Arts in Korçë, Gjergji Çikopana was also part of another fundamental field of the city’s life, contributing to the development and administration of its cultural and artistic life.
Even today, he remains an active voice in civic life, demonstrating that education and civic engagement are not simply professions or responsibilities for a certain period, but a way of serving the community.
Happy birthday, Professor Gjergji!
Our gratitude for your work!
