280,000 flu vaccines arrive in Albania – new flu season begins
The Institute of Public Health (ISHP) has announced that ahead of the 2025–2026 flu season, 280,000 doses of the GC FLU 4 vaccine have arrived in the country.
According to ISHP, the vaccines will be distributed to cover first the most at-risk groups: the elderly, pregnant women, patients with chronic illnesses, as well as healthcare personnel, who are on the front line in dealing with patients.
As part of the preparations, ISHP and OSHKSH held two online meetings with around 100 health professionals – doctors, epidemiologists, pediatricians, vaccinators, representatives of NJVKSHs and hospital directors – where the importance of broad vaccine coverage was emphasized.
The three main points of ISHP’s plan:
Increasing protection for the most vulnerable groups.
Mandatory vaccination of healthcare personnel.
Strengthening cooperation between institutions for a controlled flu season.
Health authorities remind that seasonal flu vaccination is a vital intervention that reduces illness, saves lives, and protects the health of the community.
