5000 euros to delete the news, the administrator of the portal is arrested

The services of the Directorate for the Investigation of Serious Crimes in the Criminal Police Department and those of the Special Operational Force Directorate, as a result of the immediate handling of a complaint filed by a public administration employee who reported being blackmailed by the administrator of a portal, finalized the coded operation “Portal 1”.

As a result of swift operational actions, citizen E.L., 37 years old, was apprehended at the subject’s office in Tirana immediately after receiving 5,000 euros from the injured party and was placed under arrest.

He is suspected of having obtained the amount of money from the public administration employee through blackmail, in exchange for deleting from the portal he administered several articles he had posted about the employee at different times.

Work continues to identify and apprehend other citizens involved in this criminal activity.

The procedural materials were referred to the Tirana Prosecution Office for further actions regarding the criminal offenses of “Coercion through threats or violence to obtain property” and “Fraud.”
