Korçë is celebrating a special anniversary – 75 years since the founding of the “Andon Zako Çajupi” Theatre, one of the most beloved and important cultural institutions in Albania.
Since 1949, this theatre has been more than just a venue for performances; it has been a hub of art where generations of actors have been nurtured, great works have been created, and the spirit of the city has been enriched with drama, comedy, reflection, and sensitivity.
Over these seven and a half decades, Korçë’s theatre has welcomed on its stage great names of Albanian performing arts and presented works that have left a lasting mark. It has always been open to innovation, while simultaneously preserving a strong connection to the city’s tradition and identity.
Seventy-five years is more than just a number. It represents history, emotions, and collective memories shared with hundreds of thousands of spectators. It stands for nights of premieres, applause, appreciation, but also silent efforts to keep art alive and thriving in this beautiful corner of Albania.
We remember and honor all those who have been part of this long journey: actors, directors, technicians, passionate staff, and the audience that has followed every show with love and loyalty.
The “Andon Zako Çajupi” Theatre continues to be a spiritual treasure for the city of Korçë and beyond. May this anniversary serve as inspiration for the future and a reminder of the importance of art in the life of a city and a nation.
