Academy of Human Rights and Minorities, Voskopojë 2025 – A platform for youth education and engagement

Set in the picturesque surroundings of Voskopojë, the 2025 edition of the Academy of Human Rights and Minorities was successfully held, bringing together young people from across Albania for an intensive five-day training focused on human rights, ethics, and the role of media in society.

This year’s edition featured a special contribution from journalist, lecturer, and legal expert Armand Braho, who, together with a group of youth participants, explored essential topics such as media literacy and professional ethics in journalism.

During group workshops, participants produced three multimedia projects centered on human rights, reflecting on diverse realities and delivering powerful awareness-raising messages.

The highlight of the academy was the screening of the documentary film “The Return of the Ladies,” a production by Armand Braho that brings to light the harrowing stories of women who survived internment and violence during Albania’s communist dictatorship. The documentary was supported by AWA – Albanian Women in Audiovisual, in cooperation with Scidev and financed by the European Union.

Once again, the Voskopojë Academy proved that investing in youth education is key to building a more just and conscious society. The activity was organized by the Albanian Human Rights Group, in partnership with the Youth Voice Network of Organizations, and supported by UNFPA Albania.

With dedication and professionalism, the academy continues to serve as a source of inspiration and empowerment for the younger generation, helping shape a future where human rights are respected and sustainably protected.
