"After 3 years of silence, the CEC is asking for information about Hajdari,” says Lefter Maliqi: “The candidacy of the mayor of Kuçovë was illegal"

Lefter Maliqi has today brought back into attention the case of the mayor of Kuçovë, Kreshnik Hajdari, who according to him is holding office in violation of the law.

In a post on social media, Maliqi writes that after 3 years of delays, procedural maneuvers, and deliberate silence, the Central Election Commission (CEC) has suddenly remembered to request “urgent information” regarding the legal status of Kreshnik Hajdari. But the question is: why now, and not in 2023, when the complaint with evidence and legal documents was made public?

According to Lefter Maliqi, Hajdari should not have been allowed to run for mayor of Kuçovë, as he had allegedly concealed a final criminal conviction in Greece. He accuses the CEC of deliberate delays, political protection, and manipulation of the electoral process, while stressing that SPAK and the Special Court have convicted Hajdari in this case.

Maliqi calls for an investigation not only into Hajdari’s current legal status, but also into the legality of his candidacy in the 2023 elections. According to him, this case has turned into a national scandal and those responsible must be held accountable before the law.

Full post:

After 3 years of delays, procedural maneuvers and deliberate silence, today the CEC suddenly remembers to request “urgent information” about the legal status of Kreshnik Hajdari of Kuçovë!

Why now?

Why not in April 2023, when the “Together We Win” coalition officially notified you, with written documents and in a public session, about Hajdari’s final criminal conviction in Greece, certified with an apostille?

The truth is only one:

Kreshnik Hajdari SHOULD NOT have been allowed to run in the May 2023 elections for the Municipality of Kuçovë.

But the CEC chose to “buy time,” close its eyes, and protect the candidate of the ruling party, along with his lawyer, former Prosecutor General Theodhori Sollaku, who for 3 years used every procedural trick to prevent the full truth from coming out.

Meanwhile, the citizens of Kuçovë know very well how that mandate was “stolen”:

through the division of the opposition, through pressure from the “Bistri operational unit,” Çuçi and others on our supporters, through political interference from above, through manipulation of the electoral process, and serious suspicions of ballot box and protocol changes in the Kuçovë election commission (KZAZ).

The facts are stubborn.

We have not asked for Hajdari’s personal dismissal. We have requested and continue to request the invalidation of his candidacy, because he had hidden a final criminal conviction in Greece.

In fact, for this issue, SPAK and the Special Court convicted Hajdari to prison, later converted into community service, while he continues today to hold the allegedly “stolen” mandate as mayor.

Now that the CEC has reportedly started requesting data about Hajdari’s legal status at two different times, we remind them that they must also request information for the moment when Hajdari submitted his candidacy and when the “Together We Win” coalition officially denounced him to the CEC with legal evidence.

Do not drag out this legal process any further!

Because this story has become a national disgrace and another scandal added to the long list of CEC scandals involving political and oligarchic interference.

Justice may be delayed, but it does not forget.

Anyone who has violated the law, abused their duty, and distorted the will of the citizens will be held accountable before the law.

Democracy must be restored.

Justice must go where it belongs.
