Education Minister Mirela Kumbaro announced today that, following legislative changes made in March, a new decision by the Council of Ministers supports extending school hours as part of the “After School” program.

For this reason, Kumbaro emphasized that the government has decided to double the payment for hours outside the compulsory curriculum, increasing it to 1,000 ALL per hour from the previous 500 ALL, and expanding the list of collaborators beyond school teachers to include retired teachers, experts, and specialists in arts, crafts, and other fields.

“This part of the program must be financially supported, which is why today the Council of Ministers decided to double the honorarium for these extra teaching hours to 10,000 old lek per hour, for 60 minutes. It was previously set at 5, and now we have reached 10.

Not only that, but we are opening the list of collaborators beyond in-system teachers, who after completing their mandatory hours and perhaps not having enough energy to continue for another two or three hours, we are now expanding this list with this decision to include retired teachers who are active and willing to be part of this program, as well as specialists from various fields of arts, music, and craftsmanship,” Kumbaro said.
