Albania will be represented for the first time at the Special Olympics Winter Games. In a special ceremony at the COD Center in the Prime Minister’s Office, six athletes with intellectual disabilities were presented—three boys and three girls—who will represent Albania at the 2025 Winter Games in Turin.
The host of this important event, the National Director of Special Olympics Albania, Roland Hysi, called it a historic moment for Albania. The President of the Albanian National Olympic Committee, Mr. Fidel Ylli, who was invited to the event, congratulated all the leaders of Special Olympics since its founding, highlighting the excellent work of Roland Hysi and his team.
The Minister of Education and Sports, Mrs. Ogerta Manastirliu, confirmed the Government’s support to be as close as possible to these champions. On behalf of the Municipality of Tirana, the activity was greeted by the Deputy Mayor of Tirana, Mr. Andi Seferi.
The President of Coca-Cola Bottling Albania, Luca Busi, expressed that it had been a privilege to support Special Olympics and congratulated the athletes who will represent Albania at the Games.
The Special Olympics Winter Games will be held in Turin from March 8 to 15.
