Albanians live shorter lives than Europeans

In Europe, life expectancy was estimated at 81.7 years in 2024. Meanwhile, data for Albania, according to INSTAT, show that life expectancy is 79.1 years.
What stands out in our country is that women live longer than men, by 3.6 years.
In the EU, life expectancy at birth was 81.7 years, 0.3 years higher compared to 2023. Italy and Sweden have the highest life expectancy.
The lowest life expectancy was recorded in Bulgaria (75.9 years), Romania (76.6 years), and Latvia (76.7 years).
Compared to pre-pandemic levels in 2019, out of the 26 EU countries, 24 experienced an increase in life expectancy in 2024.
