Isabella Daggett, the 22-year-old British woman who was arrested for drugs, has returned home after nearly a year in a harsh prison in Dubai.
The 22-year-old from Leeds was arrested five weeks after arriving in the United Arab Emirates for a new job as a recruitment consultant.
Although the charges against her were dropped in January, she was only allowed to leave Dubai this week.
Authorities also imposed a fine of around £3,000 for overstaying her visa while she was in prison. Her family has stated that Isabella had never used drugs and was innocent.
The family also described the terrible prison conditions, where Isabella was unable to wash or change her clothes for months at a time.
A family friend told the Daily Mail: “Everyone thought she would be heading home as soon as the charges were dropped in January, but the visa fine kept her there. It was like one final blow after everything she went through.”
Isabella had gone to Dubai to work for a businessman in a role similar to her position in the UK, recruiting staff for construction. A few weeks after arriving, she was arrested along with a man she was staying with after being found in possession of drugs.
