Median salary reaches €630, half of Albanian workers earn this amount or less.

The median salary in Albania reached 63,456 lekë in the second quarter of 2025 (about €630). This means that half of all employees earned a gross monthly wage equal to or below that amount, while the other half earned more.

The median salary is lower than the average salary, which exceeded 83,000 lekë per month (around €830) during the same period. Official data shows that the median was 24% lower than the average in Q2 2025.

Median vs. average salary what’s the difference?

The average salary is calculated by adding all wages and dividing by the number of employees. It can be skewed by a small number of very high earners.

The median salary ranks all wages from lowest to highest and selects the middle value. It shows what a typical worker earns.

If only a few people receive very high salaries, the average may appear high, but the median remains stable and reflects the real earnings of the majority.

Strong wage growth in 2024–2025

The median salary increased by 13.3% between Q2 2024 and Q2 2025. Last year, 50% of workers earned up to 56,000 lekë per month — now that threshold is over 63,000 lekë.

The period between 2024 and 2025 marks one of the most dynamic wage increases in recent years:

| Period | Median salary | Trend |

| Early 2024 | ~55,000 lekë | — |

| End of 2024 | ~58,000 lekë | Gradual rise |

| Q2 2025 | 63,456 lekë | Strong jump |

Compared to 2022–2023, when annual growth ranged from 4–7%, the current pace is much faster.

What’s driving this growth?

Minimum wage increases

Government fiscal policies

Labour shortages pushing companies to offer higher salaries

Public sector efforts to move closer to the €900 average salary target

Despite the positive trend, the fact that half of employees still earn 630 euros or less highlights the ongoing challenge of income inequality in the labour market.
