Two days before the highly anticipated Albania–Serbia match, Ballist Morina, the man who in 2014 flew a drone with the Albanian national flag over the Belgrade stadium, reacted strongly on social media, urging the Albanian players not to become part of what he calls a “prearranged masquerade.”

In a message directed especially at captain Berat Gjimshiti, Morina asked the footballers to act professionally and not allow, in his view, “external forces” to influence the outcome of the match. He also recalled the 2015 game at Elbasan Arena, suggesting that “the result had been predetermined by a political decision.”

“The match on October 8, 2015, was decided by a government decree, while I was ‘neutralized’ under the pretext of public calm. Today, history repeats itself. The international puppet masters in Tirana and Belgrade have already decided everything—the result and how the game will unfold,” he wrote.

Morina calls this confrontation “a puppet theater performance” and says that “football fans from both countries are being deceived,” while urging the Albanian players to preserve their integrity.

“Do not become part of this disgrace. You carry a jersey that is not just any jersey. Protect your dignity as people and professionals, and do not let yourselves be used for prearranged scenarios,” Morina adds.

At the end of his statement, Ballist Morina recalls that he was once criticized as a “hatemonger” and someone who “mixes politics with sport,” but emphasizes that today, in his view, “time has proven the opposite.”

“Once they called me a destroyer of international relations. Today, to the same people, I have only one question: are we live… you know it yourself!” he concludes with ironic tones.
