Drunk driver attempts to bribe police officer with 1,000 lekë, 43-year-old ends up in handcuffs

The Traffic Police of Durrës crack down on another case of attempted corruption of Traffic Police officers. He was driving under the influence of alcohol and, in order to avoid the alcohol test, offered money to police officers; the 43-year-old was arrested.

The services of the Traffic Police Sector at the Durrës Local Police Directorate, during traffic monitoring aimed at identifying and punishing violations of the Road Code, stopped a vehicle on ‘Vllazërimi’ Street, driven by the citizen Xh. S.

At the moment of the stop, the driver attempted to corrupt police officers by offering them money, with the aim of avoiding the alcohol test. The alcohol test showed that this citizen was driving under the influence of alcohol, at a level of 0.92 mg/l.

At the conclusion of the procedures carried out, the citizen Xh. S., 43 years old, resident of Durrës, was arrested in flagrante delicto for the criminal offenses of ‘Active corruption of persons exercising public functions’ and ‘Irregular driving of a vehicle’.

The investigative materials were referred to the Prosecution at the Court of First Instance of the General Jurisdiction of Durrës for further action.
