“FIFA goes crazy”: A ticket for the World Cup final reaches €2 million

Start of the World Cup is very close, and now the staggering ticket prices for the final have been revealed.

The official FIFA resale portal is listing tickets for the final on July 19 at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey for over $2.2 million each. Four seats in the lower tier behind one of the goals are on sale for $2,299,998.85. The figures are astonishing, but they fully align with how the system works. FIFA does not set price caps on the secondary market, although it takes a 15% commission from both seller and buyer.

If sold at that price, the international governing body would collect around $690,000 for a single ticket. More “affordable” options still remain extremely expensive: other seats in the same section reach $207,000, while in the third tier prices drop to $138,000 or even $23,000. The “cheapest” tickets start at just under $11,000.

The decision not to impose price caps was motivated by the desire to limit ticket resale on external platforms. However, the clear side effect is that attending the final becomes a privilege for a very small group, with prices setting a new record in the tournament’s history.
