Full reconstruction of the Children's Library, donated to the city by philanthropist Thoma Turtulli.

An important project is now underway: the complete reconstruction and revitalization of the Children's Library, a gift to the city from philanthropist Thoma Turtulli, one of Korçë’s most significant cultural landmarks, cherished for its historical memory and unique architectural value. It is a structure crafted with great love and care by the master builders of its time.

This restoration and revitalization project, the first of its kind on this scale since the building’s construction, is being carried out by the Municipality of Korçë in consultation with restoration specialists and has been approved in accordance with the cultural heritage law by the National Council of Cultural Heritage.

The goal of the restoration is to highlight the building’s deteriorated elements over the years and to create a comfortable, modern space that meets current standards, without changing its original function. It will continue to serve, as per Thoma Turtulli’s will, the children of the city, aiming to enlighten future generations by combining traditional book reading with elements of technology and innovation.

The project is currently in the site preparation phase, and work has already begun to restore some of the building’s signature elements, such as the main entrance gate.

I eagerly look forward to the day when, after the project’s completion, over 600 children up to the age of 15 attendees of technology and innovation courses—together with hundreds of their peers who are passionate about reading, will have access to a dignified and welcoming space. In doing so, Thoma Turtulli’s legacy,hi s vision of a youth distanced from coffee shops and closer to knowledge—will continue to live on forever.
