Prime Minister Edi Rama has presented the government’s new measures to support children and young people with disabilities during a meeting at the “Jonathan” Social Center.

Rama announced that the National Action Plan for Persons with Disabilities 2026–2030 foresees doubling financial support, expanding community-based services, and providing easier access to education, employment and rehabilitation.

According to the Prime Minister, around 11,000 children and young people across the country will benefit from this measure.

“Support for these children had become insufficient due to the rising cost of living and other difficulties. We promised to double it, and today this support has been doubled,” Rama said.

Among other measures, he announced that the state budget will pay social security and health insurance contributions for mothers who have children with disabilities, aiming to ease the burden on families and provide greater security for their future.
