Grida Duma reveals the behind-the-scenes details of her departure: Berisha turned the Democratic Party into a war with itself

Moderator of “Top Story,” Grida Duma, has revealed details about her decision to leave the Democratic Party, linking it to the internal crisis that, according to her, was caused by Sali Berisha’s leadership and the conflicts within the party, which led to the loss of cohesion and political identity.

Duma said that the moment she decided to leave came after her belief that the Democratic Party had lost the reason why it engaged in politics became complete.

“For me, at that moment, politics completely lost its meaning within a political group that had lost its cohesion, diversity, and clarity. It was during the local elections two years ago, and I had a PD representative on my show who told me: ‘How were we supposed to build the Democratic Party? You left, others left as well.’”

“I replied: ‘Because you went crazy’ (laughs).”

From a political and logical point of view, for me, the Democratic Party left much to be desired regarding the reason why it was engaging in politics. Its fragmentation, the lack of understanding within itself, the lack of cohesion and of coming together for issues that were bigger than the small differences that separated us, constantly pointing fingers and searching for culprits within the party, as if we did not know that those responsible were not the members or political collaborators, but the leadership of the Democratic Party, between Sali Berisha and Lulzim Basha, or between Sali Berisha and Sali Berisha himself,” Duma said on UET Cast.

In the same interview, Duma also spoke about her decision to dedicate herself to the media, admitting that at first she had thought about combining it with political engagement, but later chose to completely distance herself from politics.

“I did not think I would do it at the very first moment. I thought I could try to enter the media and maintain my political position as well. I believe that in life a person must have the courage and determination to make a choice. I believe I made the right choice if we look at where all those who are part of today’s political establishment currently stand,” Duma said.
