Happy birthday, Dr. Llazi Pandazi!

With this occasion, we remember with gratitude his long and dedicated career in medicine, especially in the field of dermatology, where the doctor made a valuable contribution to clinical and scientific service.

Born on July 6, 1943 in Bezhan, Kolonjë, he completed his schooling in Korçë and later trained as a physician at the University of Tirana, graduating in 1968. After a brief period working as a mathematics teacher in Devoll, he fully dedicated himself to medicine, starting his career as a pathologist at the Korçë Hospital.

His specialization in dermatology in 1971–1972 at the University Clinic of Tirana marked the main turning point in his career, directing him toward a field in which he would contribute continuously for decades.

Between 1975 and 1980, Dr. Pandazi was one of the central figures in the dermatology service in Korçë, covering a wide area and actively engaging in the fight against dermatomycoses. One of the most important achievements of this period was the eradication of human dermatophytosis in 1978, a significant success for public health in the region.

In addition to his clinical work, he developed a rich scientific activity with studies on various skin diseases such as psoriasis, lupus erythematosus, pemphigus vulgaris, and occupational dermatoses, as well as research on their epidemiology and treatment. His works were published in national and international scientific journals and publications, including Dermatological Studies, Vestnik Dermatologii, and La Presse Médicale.

Dr. Pandazi also contributed to the organization and strengthening of the dermatology service in Korçë, expanding it at a regional level and improving patient coverage in other areas such as Bilisht and Kolonjë. He regularly participated in scientific sessions and academic presentations, sharing his extensive clinical experience.

Until 2000, he continued his professional activity in the dermatology service, leaving behind a valuable legacy in Albanian medicine and an important contribution to the development of dermatology as a discipline.
