Happy birthday, Dr. Ylli Ciko, one of the most well-known names in medicine in Korçë, who for more than five decades has served with dedication the health of citizens, university education, and the development of medical science.

Born on July 1, 1951, in Korçë, he graduated from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Tirana in general medicine and later specialized as a general surgeon and specialized surgeon. His career includes serving as head of the Military Hospital of the Korçë Division, working as a specialist and scientific researcher at the Institute of Military Medical Research, as well as conducting scientific studies in the field of firearms-related trauma.

For many years, he has been a lecturer at the Faculty of Medicine at the “Fan S. Noli” University and at the “Medicom” University, teaching important subjects such as surgery, anatomy, pharmacology, traumatology, anesthesia and intensive care, and medical terminology.

At the same time, he has authored textbooks and contributed to the training of many generations of nurses and young healthcare professionals.

Dr. Ciko has continued his professional development abroad as well, completing specializations in Greece and later in oncology at QSUT. As an oncological surgeon at the Regional Hospital of Korçë, he has made a significant contribution to the diagnosis and treatment of tumor diseases, while also being involved in training healthcare staff and awareness campaigns for the early detection of breast cancer.

His dedication, professionalism, and contribution to medicine, scientific research, and university education have made Dr. Ylli Ciko a respected and highly valued figure in the medical community and beyond.
