Happy birthday, Master Josif Minga!

Josif Minga is one of the most prominent figures in Albanian music, a composer, educator, and well-known researcher from Korçë, a name that for more than five decades has contributed to the enrichment of Albanian culture and art.

He showed musical talent from childhood. He received his first lessons in the accordion, an instrument in which he stood out as a virtuoso, winning first place three times in national festivals. After graduating from the “Themistokli Gërmenji” high school, he continued his studies at the Higher Institute of Arts in Tirana.

He made his debut at the 11th Song Festival on RTSH as the youngest composer of the festival. Since then, his works have been performed by some of the greatest artists of Albanian music, spanning various musical genres and also leading folk ensembles from our region at the Gjirokastër Folklore Festivals.

Under his artistic direction, the Korçë ensembles have been awarded numerous prizes, trophies, and prestigious recognitions.

He has made a special contribution to preserving and enriching the Korçë serenade, arranging many folk and urban songs and successfully promoting Korçë urban music both inside and outside the country.

His work also includes composing music for films and theater, creating hymns for educational institutions, directing national and international cultural projects, and serving on juries for festivals and artistic shows.

With more than 50 years of creative and artistic activity, Josif Minga remains one of the most respected figures in Albanian music, a worthy ambassador of Korçë culture.

On the occasion of his birthday, we wish him health, long life, endless inspiration, and many more recognitions for his extraordinary contribution to Albanian music, culture, and education.
