Happy birthday to the “Nightingale of Kolonjë,” Mrs. Bylyre Jashari!

Bylyre Jashari, the “Nightingale of Kolonjë” and the “Queen of Sung Dance,” is one of the most distinguished artists not only of the region but of all southern Albanian areas. For more than 45 years, she has made an extraordinary contribution to preserving, promoting, and passing on our cultural and folkloric values.

From a very young age, she has performed polyphonic songs and over the years has won numerous awards at folklore festivals, becoming a true ambassador of the Kolonjë tradition.

Not only in singing and dancing, but also in her masterful reproduction of traditional Kolonjë costumes, she remains a living symbol of our culture.

For her valuable contributions to folk art and culture, the Korçë County Council has honored her with the title “Distinguished Personality of Korçë County,” a fully deserved recognition of her artistic figure and work. She is also a recipient of the “Naim Frashëri” Order, another high distinction for her valuable contribution to Albanian culture.
