Prime Minister Edi Rama responded to reports that he would travel to Korçë by helicopter due to the blockage of the “Librazhd–Përrenjas” road.
In a post on the social media platform X, Rama confirmed the trip but clarified that the helicopter to be used belongs to the Armed Forces. He emphasized that the road was not blocked because of the trip, explaining that the visit had been planned in advance to accompany a group of internationally prestigious investors. According to Rama, the investors will travel from Rinas to Korçë and then to Vlorë using their own helicopter.
“They tell me that political and media pots are boiling over because I am traveling by helicopter to Korçë! In fact, not only to Korçë, but from Korçë to Vlorë, to accompany a group of international investors in higher education and to present the Polit e Dijes campus in Korçë and the new complex in Vlorë, two destinations with potential to host well-known international universities! They come from Rinas to Korçë and then to Vlorë with their own helicopter, while we will use the Armed Forces helicopter, which, with or without us, performs its necessary flight hours every month, and in this case also serves another good purpose at the same time.”
Regarding the blocked road, Rama stated that blaming the government for a geological landslide along the old route requires great unfairness, deep despair, and serious ignorance. He explained that the landslide also affected the new road but has zero connection to any professional or technical responsibility of the designers, implementers, or authorities. He added that even in Italy, giant landslides endanger entire towns, yet no political party or media portal reacts with the hysteria seen in Albania.
About his helicopter flight over the blocked road, Rama added two points:
First, he has traveled across Albania more than any other prime minister since the founding of the state, not as a tourist but as the elected public servant of the Albanian people, whom he respects above any political or media agenda.
Second, whether the road was open or blocked, the helicopter trip was planned long ago so that the visiting group could see Korçë, Vlorë, and Tirana in a single 24-hour visit. He concluded that, regardless of what he says, the “pots” will say what they want, but the caravan will move forward, the dogs will keep barking, and only deeds will remain.
