“I love you, I want to marry you” / Psychiatrist arrested for harassing sports presenter released

Psychiatrist Behar Kamberi, arrested by the Tirana Police following a complaint by sports presenter Albana Bejko, who claimed he was stalking her, has been released.

Several messages sent by Kamberi, a Kosovar doctor, expressed romantic feelings toward the presenter. Messages such as “…I love you… I want to marry you…” and “…you are very beautiful, I want to meet you, I came from Kosovo just for you…” were reviewed by the Tirana Prosecutor’s Office and deemed entirely normal, not threatening, intimidating, or harmful to the presenter.

Given this, the messages did not constitute sufficient reason to keep Kamberi in custody. During questioning, he reportedly explained tearfully that he had simply expressed his romantic feelings and had come to Tirana hoping to meet Albana to propose marriage. He emphasized that he never threatened or endangered her.

Based on the full review of the case, the Tirana Prosecutor’s Office ordered Kamberi’s immediate release, and the investigation will continue while he remains free.
