“I will also run as an independent” / Braçe opens the race for Tirana

Socialist MP Erion Braçe has announced his intention to run for the position of Mayor of Tirana, openly challenging Prime Minister Edi Rama’s decision to nominate Ogerta Manastirliu as the candidate for the 2027 local elections.

During a meeting of the Socialist Party of Albania in Unit 5 in Tirana, Braçe emphasized the need for change and a more efficient organization within the Socialist structures.

He stated that he will seek the support of socialists not only in this unit but across the entire capital.

The MP warned that if he is not the party’s official candidate, he will enter the race as an independent candidate for mayor.

“As you have understood yourselves, this situation cannot continue like this. The problems of the socialists are not being resolved, and a different organization is needed. Therefore, I will seek the support of socialists throughout Tirana, and if I am not the official PS candidate, I will announce my candidacy as an independent candidate for mayor,” Braçe reportedly declared.

This development is expected to bring new dynamics within the Socialist Party and in the race for the leadership of Tirana in the upcoming local elections.
