It was hidden in a container with bananas, 29 kg of cocaine were seized at the Port of Thessaloniki

Greek Customs inspectors made another significant blow against drug trafficking with the discovery of 29 kilograms of cocaine hidden inside a container of bananas coming from Ecuador to the Port of Thessaloniki.

Specifically, inspectors from the AADE (Independent Authority for Public Revenue) of Thessaloniki’s First Customs, during routine sampling controls, detected a suspicious organic substance using a self-propelled X-ray machine in the refrigerated units of a container with fresh bananas.

Customs inspectors, in collaboration with the Greek police, immediately proceeded with the confiscation of the narcotic substance, while also notifying the competent Prosecutor’s Office.
