Julian Vila and Elisa Myrtollari are the two students selected to represent the “Fan S. Noli” University and Albania at the Summer Edition of the FISU World University Games 2025, which will be held this year in Rhine-Ruhr, Germany, from July 16–27, 2025.
Accompanied by their coach and lecturer, Assoc. Prof. Mariela Burda, the students received warm congratulations and best wishes from the rector of UNIKO, Prof. Dr. Lorenc Ekonomi.
Elisa and Julian will compete in the 100m sprint among 8,500 student-athletes from around 150 countries, in this major sporting event that includes 18 different sports.
Held every two years in a different city, this global celebration of university sport and culture brings together thousands of student-athletes to compete—making it one of the largest and most prestigious multi-sport events in the world.
Under FISU’s motto, “Excellence in Mind and Body,” the Summer World University Games promote educational and cultural values while encouraging student-athletes to combine high-level athletic performance with their intellectual pursuits.
Elisa Myrtollari and Julian Vila, both students at “Fan S. Noli” University, are not only remarkable athletes but also dedicated to their education and professional development.
Elisa Myrtollari’s achievements are truly outstanding:
National champion in the 100m and 60m sprint for five consecutive years (2019, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024)
National U18 & U20 record holder in the 100m (time: 12.28)
National U20 record holder in the 60m (time: 7.87)
National U18 record in the 200m (time: 25.22)
Julian Vila has also achieved remarkable results, reflecting his exceptional talent in sprinting events:
100m: 10.93 seconds
200m: 22.14 seconds
400m: 50.08 seconds
These are exceptional results that demonstrate both dedication and the ability to compete at an international level. Their participation in the 2025 FISU World University Games is a great opportunity to prove that they can compete on the global stage—and to show that Albania has world-class talent in athletics.
Known as the Universiade, this event is the second-largest multisport competition in the world, after the Olympic Games. It brings together thousands of student-athletes from the world’s top universities, offering a global platform for emerging talent.
We look forward to July 16, when the official opening ceremony will be held in Rhine-Ruhr, Germany—a region with a strong sporting tradition and modern infrastructure—where Elisa and Julian will proudly raise the Albanian flag and the flag of “Fan S. Noli” University.
We are proud of Elisa and Julian and wish them the best of success in this incredible challenge!
