The Lushnja team put up strong resistance in Pogradec, earning a positive result at the “Gjorgji Kyçyku” Stadium against the lake-side squad. Under the guidance of coach Erion Xhafa, they delivered a solid performance in the championship opener, securing a valuable away point against a tough opponent that last season came close to promotion to the Superiore.

In an interview, Lushnja’s captain, Mikel Canka, expressed that the team is working carefully and with determination, giving hope for a more successful season.

Canka, how do you evaluate Lushnja’s performance in Pogradec?

It was a very good start to the championship. We have experienced players in the squad, with solid backgrounds. This is a group capable of doing much better than last year.

You also went to greet the fans after the match. What’s your impression?

It’s a huge plus for the team when you see fans traveling hundreds of kilometers to support us. They deserve respect because instead of spending a nice weekend with their families, they came to back their beloved team. They stood by us for 90 minutes. With our fans, we are very strong.

Does this year’s Lushnja have a higher level compared to last season’s team?

I think that year after year Lushnja is overcoming the difficulties it faced in previous seasons. Work is being done well and carefully.

How do you see the upcoming match against Skënderbeu?

It will be a tough game. Everyone knows Skënderbeu is a very strong team. We must respect them for what they have contributed to Albanian football. But we should see ourselves as equals. We play in the same category. Teams must always aim to be a “tough bone” on their home ground. I hope we play a good, beautiful match with strong football from both sides.

Is this Lushnja capable of defeating Skënderbeu?

As I said earlier, we play in the same category. If you give your best on the pitch, you should not be afraid of your opponent.
