The Court of Appeals of SCACOC has rejected the request of former President Ilir Meta for release from detention.

The decision was made by Judge Saida Dollani, who reviewed Meta’s appeal against the previous ruling of the Court of First Instance.

Meta had requested that the detention measure be replaced with a lighter one, such as house arrest, financial guarantee, obligation to report to the police, or a travel ban.

The Court of Appeals decided not to accept the appeal, leaving in force decision no. 242, dated March 24, 2026, of the Court of First Instance.

The ruling states that the parties will be officially notified and that Meta has the right to file a cassation appeal to the Supreme Court.

Ilir Meta has been held in pre-trial detention since October 2024 and faces charges of corruption related to the CEZ-DIA affair, the LSI lobbying contract in the United States, as well as money laundering and concealment of assets.
