Official dates for the start of classes, holidays, and exams for the 2026–2027 school year

The Ministry of Education in Albania has announced that the 2026–2027 school year will begin on September 14, 2026.

The ministry has also published the official schedule for classes, school holidays, and examinations in the pre-university education system.

Basic Education

Classes begin: September 14, 2026

Classes end: June 18, 2027

Winter holidays:

Thursday, December 24, 2026 – Monday, January 4, 2027

Spring holidays:

Monday, March 29, 2027 – Friday, April 2, 2027

National Basic Education Examinations:

June 21–30, 2027

Upper Secondary Education

Classes begin: September 14, 2026

Classes end: June 18, 2027

For graduating students:

Classes end on June 4, 2027

Winter holidays:

December 24, 2026 – January 4, 2027

State Matura Examinations:

June 7–28, 2027

Here is the full order:

JOINT ORDER ON THE APPROVAL OF THE 2026–2027 SCHOOL YEAR STRUCTURE IN THE PRE-UNIVERSITY EDUCATION SYSTEM:

The structure of the 2026–2027 school year in the pre-university education system shall be as follows:

For Basic Education:

a) Classes begin on September 14, 2026, and end on June 18, 2027.

b) Winter holidays begin on December 24, 2026, and end on January 4, 2027.

c) Spring holidays begin on March 29, 2027, and end on April 2, 2027.

d) National Basic Education Examinations will be held from June 21 to June 30, 2027.

For Upper Secondary Education:

a) Classes begin on September 14, 2026, and end on June 18, 2027.

b) For graduating students, classes begin on September 14, 2026, and end on June 4, 2027.

c) Winter holidays begin on December 24, 2026, and end on January 4, 2027.

d) State Matura Examinations will be held from June 7 to June 28, 2027.

For Vocational Education:

a) Classes begin on September 14, 2026, for all educational programmes corresponding to Levels 2–4 of the Albanian Qualifications Framework (AQF).

For the first and second years of post-secondary education at AQF Level 5, classes begin no later than the third week of October 2026 and end in accordance with the instructional hours set out in the official curriculum frameworks approved by the Ministry of Economy and Innovation.

b) For students in Grade 10 of the 2+1+1 educational structure, Grades 10 and 12 of the 2+2 educational structure, Grades 10 and 11 of the three-year block structure, and Grades 10, 11, and 12 of the four-year block structure, classes end on June 18, 2027.

c) For students in Grades 11 and 12 of the 2+1+1 educational structure, Grade 12 of the three-year block structure, and Grade 11 of the 2+2 educational structure, classes end on June 4, 2027.

d) For all Grade 13 students taking the Professional State Matura across all educational structures, classes end on May 28, 2027.

e) Winter holidays begin on December 24, 2026, and end on January 4, 2027.

f) Final examinations for Level II professional qualifications under the Albanian Qualifications Framework (AQF) will be held from June 7 to June 18, 2027.

g) Final examinations for Level IV professional qualifications under the AQF, across all educational structures, will be held from May 31 to June 4, 2027.

h) Professional School Matura and Professional State Matura examinations will be held from June 7 to June 28, 2027.
