More than 30,000 people have left Albania through the Kapshticë border crossing over the past four days, in another period of heavy traffic at the border with Greece.
They are mainly Albanian emigrants who had come to the country for their holidays and have now begun returning to Greece and the countries where they live and work.
The heavy flow has caused long lines of vehicles at Kapshticë, with travelers reporting waits of up to two hours at the border amid high temperatures.
Despite the heavy traffic, four counters are operating on both sides of the border to process travelers and vehicles, with the aim of speeding up procedures.
Queues are also forming in the neutral zone, while emigrants wait in their vehicles amid the high temperatures of recent days.
The Kapshticë border crossing is one of the main routes used by Albanian emigrants during the summer season. The flow is expected to continue in the coming days as emigrants finish their holidays and return to the countries where they live.
