Today is a special day for one of the icons of Albanian athletics, Pavlina Evro, who celebrates her 61st birthday. Without a doubt, a name like Evro deserves respect and gratitude for what she has given to Albanian sport, not only in Albania but also in the European arena. Evro is truly a Legend.

The athlete from Korça, Pavlina Evro, is the very history of Albanian and European athletics.

Her name is linked to numerous athletics competitions in the middle- and long-distance running disciplines, just as it is linked to many titles and medals more than any other athlete.

From the meetings in Nice and Oslo, where in the 1500 meters Evro set a time of 4 minutes, 0.87 seconds a time that for many years remained among the top 10 best times in the world in this discipline.

Pavlina Evro was born to run and set records in many races, so much so that coach Piro Kasati, together with Pavlina Evro, dared to challenge the great Romanian school of these events, with an athlete like Melinte, because Piro Kasati and Evro carried out unprecedented scientific work in the history of Albanian athletics.

That is why there are all those results, that is why there are all those medals. Even more, that is why Pavlina Evro is not simply an athlete but the history of middle- and long-distance running competitions, even in conditions when the great athlete trained and ran on cinder tracks in our country, running without having the material base of European athletes.

As long as she was on the track, Pavlina Evro never stopped running more than all the athletes of these events combined.

That is why she remains the greatest athlete in Albanian history and beyond.
