Two Albanian nationals, aged 25 and 36, were arrested by Italian police during an anti-drug operation carried out in the Sant’Enea area of Perugia. They were caught in the act during a drug exchange. One of them attempted to flee with about 2 kilograms of cocaine, while the other had €70,000 hidden in his car.
Following the arrests, further checks uncovered additional large quantities of drugs and cash. In a house near the scene, police found another 2 kilograms of cocaine, packaging materials, and €7,500.
The investigation then led authorities to a residence in Castelnuovo Berardenga, in the province of Siena, where they seized 10 kilograms of highly pure cocaine and €16,000 in cash.
In total, 15 kilograms of cocaine and €100,000 were seized. The two Albanians have been taken into custody and remain in prison, charged with drug trafficking and possession with intent to sell.
Italian authorities suspect that behind them lies an organized trafficking network operating between the regions of Umbria and Tuscany.
