Rama chose him as Speaker of the Parliament / Peleshi’s reaction arrives: “I just found out today… a great responsibility!”

Niko Peleshi was today chosen by Prime Minister Edi Rama as the new Speaker of the Parliament for the fourth government mandate.

Speaking to the media, he said that he himself only learned today about the proposal to become Speaker and acknowledged that it is a great responsibility.

“I come from leading the parliamentary group, I have been the chairman of the Parliamentary Group, held several ministerial portfolios, and have had long experience. I’m not saying that I am the only one who deserved it; many of my colleagues perhaps could have done it better than me. I was proposed today by the party leader to be the Speaker of Parliament, and I accept it with great pleasure, humility, and a lot of responsibility.

I’m telling you that I found out today that I will hold this position. It is a very great responsibility, especially given the historic moment in which the country finds itself on the path toward the European Union,” Peleshi said.
