Prime Minister Edi Rama today continued his criticism of judge Hazbi Balliu over the release from confiscation of an unpermitted building, which was to serve as the new offices of the Cadastre Agency in Tirana. In a Facebook post, the head of government stated that judge Balliu needed only 10 minutes to make the ruling in favor of the plaintiffs.
“Judge Balliu didn’t even need 10 minutes to go against the state and side with the plaintiffs who built an entire unpermitted building, which was confiscated as such and given to the State Cadastre Agency,” Rama said.
According to him, the materials provided to the judge for review required at least 9 minutes just to read, but Rama emphasized that Balliu did not go through them. He added that, for the judge, the only important fact was that no casualties had occurred so far in the old Cadastre building.
“The materials made available to Balliu by the institutions require much more than 9 minutes to read, but of course the judge didn’t read them at all, since for him it was enough that in the old ASHK building—rendered unsafe by the earthquake—there had been no victims, and so, in his view, work could continue under falling ceilings, while for the unpermitted building, ‘we’ll see what happens’.”
