Rama responds to critics: "There is no regime in the Socialist Party, everyone will be heard"

Prime Minister Edi Rama has responded to the debates and objections surrounding the proposed territorial reform, emphasizing that the process is still in the public consultation phase and that every opinion will be heard.

In a public statement, the head of government mocked the criticism and claims of discontent within the Socialist Party, describing them as "complaining" and "a great uproar from the mourners."

Rama stressed that, apart from the burning of Socialist Party membership cards—which he described as a shameful act and a few individual reactions from MPs, everything else is normal and even welcome during a consultation process.

According to him, the reform document is currently in its 60-day public consultation period, meaning that citizens, municipalities, and all interested parties have the right to freely express their views.

The Prime Minister also underlined that the law gives mayors and municipal councils the right to submit their positions in writing, while peaceful protests are acceptable as long as they do not disrupt public order or interfere with people's daily lives.

In his statement, Rama also rejected claims that there is a regime in Albania or within the Socialist Party, assuring that no one will be prevented from expressing their opinion on the reform.

He added that during the 60-day consultation period, the government will further explain the reasons behind the proposed new administrative division, stressing that arguments based on historical traditions, the reputation of particular areas, or past events cannot serve as the basis for decision-making in this process.
