Reaction of the Serbian Federation after the match in Tirana: Thanks for the hospitality, condemnation of the behavior in the stands

The Football Federation of Serbia has reacted after the match held in Tirana, thanking the Albanian Football Federation for the hospitality, but at the same time condemning the behavior of some fans in the stands, which it considers unacceptable and dangerous.

"Football in Tirana experienced its greatest loss in the stands of the National Stadium," the statement reads.

"We would like to emphasize the fact that the entire delegation of the Football Federation of Serbia, from the first to the last minute of their stay in the Albanian capital, was received excellently by the Albanian Football Federation and its president Armand Duka. From the welcome at the airport to the departure from Tirana, we felt respect and care."

"Unfortunately, scenes from the stands that the football world does not want to see – scenes that UEFA has been fighting for years through its bodies and regulations – cast a big stain over what happened fairly and correctly on the field."

The Serbian federation strongly condemns political outbursts of hatred through provocations and chants that, according to them, support banned organizations and incite new crimes.

"When words were not enough, the physical endangerment of our players followed. Coins, cups, and filled bottles were thrown from the stands. On several occasions, the Italian referee was forced to interrupt the match. The official stadium announcer was heard as well, but everything remained ineffective. The shameful images that began with whistles against the anthems, continued with scandalous cheers and strikes against Serbian players, not only harm the sporting spirit and the atmosphere of fair play but also directly violate the principles of respect and international tolerance that football should promote."

"While thanking the Albanian Football Federation for the hospitality and warm reception during the stay in Tirana, we condemn everything that was heard and seen from the stands of the National Stadium."
