Socialist Party MP Brunilda Mersini has resigned from her mandate in the Parliament of Albania. The news was announced by the Speaker of Parliament, Niko Peleshi, who stated that following Mersini’s resignation, the Central Election Commission (CEC) has been notified to declare the vacancy and proceed with her replacement from the Socialist Party’s deputy list.
According to official sources, Brunilda Mersini’s resignation is linked to her decision to run in the partial local elections on November 9, where she will represent the Socialist Party as a candidate for Mayor of Vlorë.
Following her resignation, the CEC will carry out the necessary procedures to replace her mandate with the next candidate on the Socialist Party’s multi-member list for the Vlorë constituency.
Brunilda Mersini was elected as an MP in the 2021 parliamentary elections and has been an active member of the Socialist Party’s parliamentary group. Her resignation marks a new step in her political career as she aims to continue her public service at the local level.
