Robbers break into the bank and take dozens of people hostage

An alarming situation was recorded in Piazza Medaglie d'Oro, in the Arenella area of Naples, where an armed robbery at a Crédit Agricole branch was accompanied by a hostage-taking.

According to authorities, three to four masked individuals entered the bank premises and barricaded themselves inside, holding around 25 people employees and customers for several hours.

The area was surrounded by security forces, while firefighters were also involved in the operation, intervening to open the bank’s entrance and facilitate police access.

After negotiations with the perpetrators, the situation was resolved without serious consequences for the hostages, all of whom were released. However, the attackers managed to flee the scene, and police are continuing efforts to apprehend them.
