School violence, the new school year will begin with a strict security plan, from cameras in schools to “Eagle” Forces patrols

The school year that ended brought a wave of conflicts among students in schools across the country, becoming a serious concern for the safety of minors.

The most serious clashes were recorded in Kamëz, Durrës, Shkodër and Sarandë, where disputes that started inside educational institutions ended with the use of cold weapons near school buildings.

In November, a 15-year-old in Durrës was stabbed and died four days later. A month later, in Sarandë, a 13-year-old was also attacked with a knife, while in Shkodër, near the “Shejnaze Juka” school, a clash between teenagers left two injured. In March, again in Durrës, a conflict at a nine-year school ended with a minor being injured, while in Shkodër a group of teenagers were involved in a violent confrontation that left people wounded.

According to the State Police, during the years 2023–2025, 193 conflicts in schools were identified and 285 cases were prevented.

For the new school year starting in September, 20 schools in Tirana will be monitored with security cameras through the smart-city project. The goal is to increase safety in schools, prevent crime and protect minors.

The police will implement the School Security Package, which includes monitoring the perimeter of school buildings, the engagement of general patrol units, Traffic Police and “Eagle” Forces, as well as awareness campaigns with students about bullying, violence and the use of social networks.

In addition, street vending near schools will be banned and inspections will be carried out to prevent the carrying of cold weapons or narcotic substances.
