A new development has emerged in the investigation into the murder of 29-year-old Pamela Genini in Milan, after her grave was desecrated and her skull is missing from the body.

Cemetery workers discovered on Monday, March 30, that the coffin had been forcibly opened and part of the body had been taken. Authorities suspect the involvement of three to four individuals, while the motive has not yet been determined.

The prosecution has launched an investigation for desecration of a body and theft of part of it. These offenses carry a penalty of up to seven years in prison under Italian law.

The incident brings back into focus the murder that occurred in October 2025. The victim was found dead on the balcony of her apartment, with more than 20 stab wounds. The main suspect is her ex-partner, 52-year-old Gianluca Soncin.

Investigators have gathered evidence indicating that he had been stalking her and pressuring her to resume the relationship. They believe he entered the apartment using keys he still had.

Before the attack, the 29-year-old had expressed fear of him in communication with a friend. Witnesses in the area reported that she called for help during the attack.

After the incident, the suspect attempted to harm himself by cutting his neck, but survived. He is currently in pre-trial detention and faces charges of murder and stalking, while investigations into the grave desecration continue.
