SERIOUS INCIDENT / A 60-year-old woman killed, suspected that her son is the perpetrator

A family murder occurred this Wednesday in Kosovo, in the village of Restelicë. It is reported that a 30-year-old man killed his 60-year-old mother.

The incident took place around 01:06 a.m. The case was confirmed by the police spokesperson for the Prizren region, Shaqir Bytyqi.

He stated that the suspect has been arrested and suffers from mental health issues. Authorities have launched an investigation to fully clarify the circumstances of the incident.

“On January 21, 2025, around 01:06 a.m., police were notified of a suspicious death in the village of Restelicë, Dragash Municipality. According to preliminary information, a male, approximately 30 years old, allegedly deprived his mother, around 60 years old, of life. The suspect, based on initial data, has had mental health problems.

From the preliminary examination at the scene, no weapon used in the alleged crime was found, while the victim sustained several injuries to the head. The suspect has been arrested by police and detained for further legal procedures.

The Regional Investigation Sector, in coordination with the State Prosecutor, is undertaking all necessary investigative actions to fully clarify the circumstances of this case,” the police announced.

The Basic Prosecutor’s Office in Prizren added that the suspected perpetrator had previously been involved in three other cases of domestic violence.

“One case was handled in 2024, and two cases in 2021. For these cases, the Prosecutor’s Office took the relevant legal actions, filed indictments, and convictions were issued for the same cases.
