A tragic incident has occurred in Australia, where a 28-year-old Albanian footballer jumped from the eighth floor of a building, resulting in his death.

Marjo Bacaj, who played for the Adelaide Eagles Football Club, was expected by his teammates to join them for a match, but the devastating news shocked everyone.

The Albanian is believed to have jumped from the rooftop of the 2KW Bar & Restaurant, and rescue efforts were in vain.

Firefighters, ambulances, and police rushed to the scene, but nothing could be done to save the footballer.

Bacaj, who was also known in Albania for his football career, leaves behind a wife and a young son.

Adelaide shaken by footballer’s death

His teammates were devastated when they heard the tragic news. On the morning of the incident, the player had informed his team that he wasn’t feeling well, sending a message to the team’s WhatsApp group around 10:15 AM, as reconstructed by the Daily Mail. It appeared to be a minor illness that raised no alarm and was expected to simply keep him off the field that afternoon.

But by 4:00 PM, Adelaide Eagles learned of his death: Bacaj had jumped from the eighth floor of a building in the city center, climbing to the rooftop where a bar and restaurant are located. The footballer had gone there alone, and then jumped, sending shockwaves through the community.

There are no suspects in his death, and authorities have confirmed it was a suicide, not an accident. The entire team gathered on the rooftop of the building to lay messages and wreaths in memory of the Albanian — a much-loved and respected player who had lived in Adelaide for years with his family.
