SMS scandal / Administration allegedly ordered to fill Edi Rama’s rally today in Tirana

Edi Rama is aiming to demonstrate today, at the gathering for the 35th anniversary of the founding of the Socialist Party, the strength of numbers in front of tens of thousands of citizens protesting for nearly two weeks outside his office.

In the event that will take place at 17:00 just a few meters away from the protest, Rama aims to fill the entire “Nënë Tereza” Square to show Albanians and international media, who have moved to Tirana, that he enjoys greater support than the group demanding his resignation.

For this reason, the Socialist Party in the center and in the regions is reportedly urging, with strong insistence and pressure tactics, all employees in the administration or municipalities to be present at the rally.

An SMS was published two days ago by activists who are fueling the protest against the government. Meanwhile, yesterday and today, Zoom.al has received dozens of messages from administration and municipal employees who denounce the pressure being exerted on them.

Phone calls and SMS messages are reportedly coming not only from their superiors at work, but also from local Socialist Party leaders in the regions.

According to reports, thousands of employees have been bombarded with messages and phone calls containing a clear and direct order to leave their official duties, travel to Tirana, and fill the square in order to create the illusion of popular support that does not actually exist.

The internal messages leaked from the organizers of the “Rilindja” movement, ordering the recruitment of “enthusiasts” on lists to applaud the Prime Minister’s speeches, show that the regime of Edi Rama is desperately trying to display artificial admiration, after realizing that, contrary to what it believed, the people do not support it.

The instructions revealed through SMS messages from local leaders, including setting guards at entrances for “identification,” dividing areas with maps, and the strict order that “no one should leave in the middle of the event,” show that public employees are being treated as political slaves in the service of a power that is seeing its end closer than ever before.
