Isak Andic, the man who founded the well-known fashion brand “Mango” and gave Mediterranean elegance a global echo, died ten months ago on a mountain in Catalonia. Initially, his death was reported as a tragic accident: a 71-year-old who had lost his balance during a walk on the Montserrat mountain trail.
But now it seems the investigation has taken another direction. Spanish authorities are examining the possibility of homicide, and at the center of the investigation is his son, Jonathan Andic.
From Istanbul to Catalonia
Born in 1953 in Istanbul, into a Sephardic Jewish family originally from Thessaloniki, Isak Andic grew up surrounded by the scent of fabrics and the spirit of commerce. In the 1960s, his family moved to Catalonia in search of a new beginning. Although he did not speak Spanish well at first, Andic understood the universal language of trade, style, and ambition.
He began his activity by selling clothes in local markets together with his brother and later founded the company “Mango,” which today counts hundreds of stores in dozens of countries worldwide. For decades, he was one of the most powerful figures in the fashion world in Spain and one of the richest people in the country.
New investigations
His death was considered an ordinary mountain accident. But according to various media sources, the police have reopened the case after suspicions emerged from testimonies and the circumstances of his death. Investigators have focused their attention on Jonathan, his son, due to unclear statements and inconsistencies in the initial reports.
The Andic family has not yet made a direct public statement, but sources close to them have said they are cooperating with the investigation and believe in Jonathan’s innocence.
A rich but troubled legacy
Isak Andic left behind a major fashion empire and a powerful legacy in the global clothing industry. His death, now surrounded by questions, has cast a shadow over the image of one of the most successful entrepreneurs of recent decades.
