Storm in Pogradec, part of the promenade flooded

Bad weather hit the city of Pogradec on Friday afternoon, bringing a rapid change from the extreme heat that has affected our country over the past few weeks. What began as cloudy skies and a sudden storm quickly turned into flooding on several of the city’s main roads.

As can also be clearly seen in the footage obtained from the scene, heavy rainfall has affected the area, causing the drainage systems to become overwhelmed.

The greatest difficulties have been reported on “Dëshmorët e Pojskës” Street, as well as along the city promenade, where the water level has reached considerable heights, covering the entire passageway.

The footage shows citizens and pedestrians forced to take off their shoes to make their way through the water, while others are trying to move around by bicycle through streets blocked by the flooding.

This drastic change in weather comes after a long period of drought and high temperatures, which were accompanied by numerous fires across the country.
