The 52-year-old teacher, Alban Bejleri, passed away the day before, immediately after finishing the teaching process in the village of Marjan, in Maliq.
According to information, the teacher was on his way to his vehicle to return to Bilisht, where he lived with his family, when he collapsed on the road and died.
Relatives and colleagues describe him as a dedicated teacher and a calm person who had made continuous contributions to education despite difficulties.
His uncle, Besim Bejleri, says that the 52-year-old came from a family with a strong tradition in education and was devoted to his students, while for years he had also faced health problems. According to him, he had asked to be closer to his family but continued working in remote areas.
“From our extended family, we are 17 teachers, but he was special, quiet, hardworking, and a believer. He was dedicated to children. Politics dismisses and wears people down, you know how these things go. He was not working at that time; when he was appointed, they sent him to the Maliq area, a very remote zone. He had requested to be transferred to Devoll, but only now was he moved. I appeal to all politicians that people who are ill should be close to their families.
He died in the middle of the road and left behind an important message. Be careful, politicians, don’t play with people’s health. Pay attention and think about these people. He was a man with two university degrees and was without work. He had been working for 5–6 years. He never complained; he would walk about 7 km from the school, both ways. He came just for two students,” his uncle said.
Colleagues also emphasize his dedication, noting that for years he covered long distances every day to reach school, often on foot, in difficult infrastructure conditions.
“Alban is part of the pedagogical community and comes from a family of teachers. He was a dedicated teacher, gave his maximum at work, and endured physical difficulties that led him to this point.
He faced difficulties due to the road and distance. He would go every day to Lozhan and then continue on foot. He had been doing this routine for 4–5 years, maybe more. He did not have heart problems, but he was diabetic. He told me there were times when the road was blocked and we were not expected. Such is life,” said teacher Endri Fifo.
Meanwhile, his friends add that job transfers and distance from his home made his daily life even harder.
“He was transferred for political reasons, he was right-wing. He had many years in education. He would walk about 8 km. He would leave the car and then continue on foot to the village,” said one friend.
Preliminarily, it is suspected that his death may have been due to natural causes, while official confirmation from authorities is expected regarding the full circumstances of the incident. The case has sparked reactions in the community, bringing back attention to the challenges faced by teachers in remote areas of the country.
