The Vice President of the Democratic Party and opposition MP, Luçiano Boçi, stated that the candidate the opposition selects for the race in the Municipality of Tirana must have a balanced profile between public visibility and political experience.
During a media statement, Boçi also addressed the challenges involved in choosing a candidate for the capital, describing the process as a “multi-factor equation,” which, according to him, will ultimately have a well-considered solution.
“Finding a solution in this multi-factor equation is somewhat not easy, but there will be a solution. Each type of candidate has its own reasoning,” Boçi said.
He emphasized that Tirana is a city with many specificities, due to its diverse population and the political weight it holds at the national level.
“Tirana has its own characteristics, as it is a conglomerate of people from all over Albania, a mix of social layers, representatives from different worlds, business, and society. This situation requires, also due to the current political climate, a candidate who is more visible in the public dimension, but who also possesses political depth,” Boçi stated.
In the discussion, he mentioned several potential names who, in his view, could successfully represent the opposition in this race: analyst Fatos Lubonja, Ilir Alimehmeti, Jorida Tabaku, and Dhurata Çupi.
The selection of the opposition candidate for the Municipality of Tirana is expected to be one of the most important decisions for the opposition’s strategy ahead of the local elections.
