The Albanian Football Federation (FSHF) organized a meeting with all the participating teams in the Superliga championship ahead of the start of the new 2024-2025 season.
This meeting, which took place at the “House of Football” and was organized by the Refereeing Department of the Albanian Football Federation, was attended by coaches and captains of the Superliga teams. During the meeting, discussions focused on refereeing regulations, including how players are penalized for wrongful tackles against opponents, handball incidents and when they are punishable, simulations in the penalty area and on the field, how pulling and holding offenses will be punished, and other related matters.
The head of refereeing at FSHF, Sokol Jareci, explained the regulations to the captains and how they should interact with the referees. It was once again clarified that the only communication with the match referee during key moments should be conducted exclusively with the team captain.
The same practice was followed by UEFA in the finals of the European Championship “Germany 2024” to avoid pressure on the referee, who during a match may have to make nearly 200 decisions. These decisions cannot be made under the pressure of 22 players, who often surround the referee, placing him under pressure even when a situation is being reviewed by the VAR system. Therefore, the only way is for communication to be conducted exclusively with the team captain, who is the person responsible for receiving official information on a key decision and is also accountable for the behavior and reactions of the other team players, who will be disciplined if they disregard the captain’s instructions.
The clubs requested that the Refereeing Department of the FSHF provide videos of various game situations that require interpretation, such as handball incidents, pulling, or holding in the penalty area, so that coaches can work on these in theoretical sessions with their teams.
The new Superliga championship season will kick off on Sunday, August 18, with the first two matches being Dinamo City – Egnatia and Teuta – Bylis.
