The State Matura is eagerly anticipated by students and parents, as it represents a key moment in the continuation of the educational journey, where academic preparation is intertwined with the emotions of completing a cycle and moving toward new university challenges.
For this reason, education authorities begin preparations early to ensure a fair and transparent process. This year as well, the regulation of the State Matura provides for changes compared to last year.
These changes particularly affect aspects related to students who fail subjects and disciplinary measures during exams.
The Director General of the Directorate of Pre-University Education, Mirela Cami, explained the changes envisaged in this regulation.
“Students who fail in one or two subjects during the entire school year will not be allowed to sit the June exams. These students will have to take these exams during the autumn session and then enter the State Matura in the second session. If they fail in three subjects, they lose the school year and will have to repeat it,” Cami emphasized.
According to her, the regional directorates, the Educational Services Center, and all educational institutions will be informed at the end of the school year of the nominal list of these students.
Another important change concerns the use of technological devices during exams.
“A graduate who appears at the exam center and is found during the exam with a mobile phone, smart watch, or other technological devices is excluded from that exam, but has the right to take it in the following session,” Cami clarified.
As for administrators, Cami pointed out that they will not only have duties, but also responsibilities for the smooth running of the process.
“Exam administrators are trained and are selected through an electronic draw in the presence of the director of the Local Office of Pre-University Education. Their duties are clearly defined regarding the administration of the exam process, starting from the identification of candidates, preventing seat changes during the exam, physical checks for technological devices, reporting irregularities, respecting schedules, and other rules in accordance with the State Matura 2026 regulation, which assigns them responsibility for the proper conduct of the process,” Cami underlined.
The Matura exams will include 30–35 questions, comprising both multiple-choice and essay-type questions. Meanwhile, to guide and prepare candidates, model tests for the upcoming exams have been distributed to all schools, orienting students on the format and requirements of the exams so that they are as well prepared as possible for the State Matura exams.
To obtain the maximum grade of 10, a candidate must accumulate the full 60 possible points.
