The Roots of Kolonjë – Piro Skënder Haxho (Arti Koçiu)
He was born on April 12, 1957, as a member of one of the founding families of the city of Ersekë.
He was one of the most emblematic footballers of the Gramoz team, from the 1970s until the late 1980s.
He started playing for Gramoz at the age of 16.
His life and career were marked by contrasts and great difficulties. In a more tolerant system, Arti might have been part of the biggest Albanian teams.
His talent was promising, but his “troubled” biography did not allow him, in those difficult years, to pursue his dream of becoming one of the most prominent names in Albanian football.
Despite significant obstacles and challenges, with Gramoz, Arti achieved records that remain unbroken. It is enough to mention that he still holds the record for the most goals scored in a single season: 57 goals.
In a survey conducted by FK Gramoz in 1998, he was awarded the title of “Player of the Century” for the Gramozi team.
